Line Friends Story Zines

This foundational art lesson introduced students to the element of line through a cast of playful “Line Friends,” each inspired by a different type of line. After exploring how artists use lines to create movement, emotion, and personality, students transformed simple line types into original characters with names, traits, and stories. Using a folded mini-zine format, young artists combined drawing, writing, and storytelling to create their own illustrated books. The project encouraged creativity, literacy connections, character development, and an understanding of how even the simplest visual elements can communicate ideas and tell meaningful stories.
